While working as a pilot in Phoenix, AZ, Joseph Goodwin, founder of The Shutter Place, recognized a need for a more unique interior plantation shutter. This shutter would not only be custom built, but would allow each customer to express his or her imagination and tastes through the various exquisite finishes that would be offered. Since Joseph comes from a family with over twenty-five years of construction experience, he knew exactly what it would take to realize his vision.
In February of 2002, Joseph created The Shutter Place and produced the first custom-built shutter in a small corner of his father's cabinet shop. Since that time, The Shutter Place has moved into a state-of-the-art facility where it constructs thousands of shutters in a number of exotic woods and finishes. The Shutter Place now operates showrooms in both St. George and Salt Lake City, UT, and it plans to open other locations soon.
